Mr. Patrice Cellario, Government Advisor-Minister of the Interior, represented Monaco at UNESCO’s ministerial conference “Sport Changes the Game” on July 24, 2024, in Paris. He was joined by Ambassador Anne-Marie Boisbouvier and members of Monaco’s permanent delegation.

In his address, Mr. Cellario emphasized Monaco’s dedication to promoting sport and physical education through robust public policies, especially in education and associations. Speaking on a panel about the role of teachers in instilling values through sport, he noted that Monaco will be the capital of sport in 2025. He also highlighted the efforts of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights, Peace and Sport NGO, the National Olympic Committee, and the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee.

The panel, moderated by UNESCO Deputy Director for Education Stefania Giannini, featured ministers from Ireland, South Africa, and Haiti.

The conference, opened by UNESCO’s Assistant Director for External Relations, Edouard Matoko, gathered about a hundred ministers of sports and athletes during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Mr. Cellario also engaged with ministers from Andorra, San Marino, Ireland, Italy, Madagascar, Luxembourg, and footballer Raï Vieira de Oliviera. Celebrating 75 years as a UNESCO member, Monaco supports the organisation’s sports section and ratified the international convention against doping in 2007.
