The Embassy of Monaco in Germany hosted a reception at Berlin’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel to celebrate the 19th anniversary of HSH Prince Albert II’s accession on Friday, July 5. Ambassador Lorenzo Ravano welcomed over 200 guests, including representatives from the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, numerous ambassadors, diplomats, and figures from the economic, financial, and cultural sectors.
The event featured notable attendees such as the Honorary Consul of Monaco in Potsdam and members of the International German Club of Monaco. In his speech, Ambassador Ravano highlighted recent significant events, such as the inauguration of Monaco’s section at the Miniatur Wunderland museum in Hamburg and Prince Albert II’s participation in the Arctic Circle Berlin Forum following his Antarctic scientific cruise.
Ravano emphasized the strong ties between Monaco and Germany and the vibrant German community in Monaco. He also noted the 75th anniversary of Monaco’s membership in UNESCO and the 20th anniversary of its entry into the Council of Europe. Amid calls for an Olympic Truce, guests observed a moment of silence for victims of global conflicts and terrorism.
As Germany hosts the EURO 2024 football championship, the Ambassador celebrated Monaco’s sporting excellence, mentioning the passage of the Olympic flame, the start of the final stage of the Tour de France 2024, and the recent victory of Monegasque Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc.
Dr. Sven Mossler, representing the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised the strong relations between Monaco and Germany and highlighted the importance of Monaco as a partner in international efforts to uphold the rule of law, combat climate change, and protect the seas.
