Members of the Municipal Council honoured Monegasque families who welcomed their first child between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024, on the occasion of the celebration of Mother’s and Father’s Day on Thursday, June 7. 53 births were recorded between the beginning of May last year and the end of April this year.
Organised since 2015, this celebration marks the major event of the birth of a first child in the Principality, and is part of the policy implemented by the Municipal Council in favour of families. In her welcoming remarks, Chloé Boscagli Leclercq, Delegate for Early Childhood, reminded us that early childhood is more than ever at the heart of the Municipal Institution’s priorities.
Boscagli Leclercq then discussed the actions carried out by the Early Childhood and Families Service, including but not limited to the opening of two crèches, in the newly constructed Testimonio and Honoria buildings last year, and in the two years before that a further two crèches established in Grand Ida and Bel Air.
In addition, the Monte-Carlo reception structure will soon benefit from a complete renovation in order to meet the best standards. The delegate recalled that, in its policy of accompaniment and support for parenthood, the Monaco Town Hall offers free workshops, games, discussions and meetings with Early Childhood professionals to all families in the Principality, within the ‘Espaces Parents’ or Parent Spaces.
Finally, Boscagli Leclercq recalled the establishment of the new space dubbed the ‘Làscia e Piya!’ in three nurseries, which allows children as well as parents to exchange books, in favour of the circular economy and environmental preservation.
In memory of this reception, a measuring rod specially made for the occasion was given to each family. The members of the Municipal Council then took some souvenir photos and chatted with families over a cocktail, in a very friendly atmosphere.
