The world’s first international ecological hot air balloon pursuit race, the Prince Albert II Cup, has been cancelled.
“Unfavourable weather conditions between February 1 and April 30, 2024 have forced us to cancel the Prince Albert II of Monaco Cup 2024, as the unstable weather conditions caused by global warming and the Principality’s particularly high urban density have prevented us from taking off in the optimum safety conditions required,” said Alain Cruteanschii, President of the Club of Aeronauts of Monaco and the organiser of the cup.
This international ecological hot-air balloon competition has been postponed until the first quarter of next year.
“The Aeronauts of Monaco team warmly thanks H.S.H. Prince Albert II and his Foundation for their support, as well as our partners and the media who support our action in favour of the use of clean energy and technologies that respect the planet. See you in 2025 for new Adventures…” read the open letter by Cruteanschii.
