The IMSEE has published the first set of results from the 2023 Population Census, recorded through a new calculation method now based on registers.
Until the deployment of this register based system, an exhaustive survey took place every eight years, but this new method of calculation makes the number of inhabitants and dwellings, as well as their main characteristics, available annually.
The register revealed that the resident population of the Principality stands at 38,367 inhabitants, up 2.8 percent from the last consensus recorded in 2016. Meanwhile, residents of Monegasque nationality represent just 23.9 percent of the country’s total population.
Monaco’s statistics and economic studies institute will present more detailed statistics, including gender, an age pyramid and nationality numbers by the end of the first half of 2024.
