Monaco’s police force is offering an amnesty for residents who have guns in their possession without a licence.
The scheme will start on March 25 and run until May 4.

“The Department of Public Security is organising a simplified operation to abandon weapons to the State,” the Government said in a press release on Tuesday, March 19.

“Weapons held illegally on the national territory were acquired by inheritance or found and kept, most often without knowing the legal framework for possessing these weapons. Often handed over without particular precaution, sometimes even forgotten, these weapons present a risk of domestic accidents, particularly to the detriment of children, or can be stolen on the occasion of a burglary and therefor fuel criminal networks,” the statement continued.

Gun owners who would like to make use of the amnesty can make an appointment by telephone at 93 15 31 26, or 93 15 31 38, or by email at the following address ppg@gouv.mc
