Specialist cars with large antenna on the roof are spending two days travelling Monaco streets to collect data for the Apple Maps” application.

Apple says that 360° view functionality will be significantly improved and the data will provide “an enhanced user experience.”

“These surveys may use equipment mounted outside the vehicles as well as iPhones, iPads or other devices inside the vehicles,” Apple said. “We will also be required to revisit certain locations periodically in order to collect new informational data to maintain high-quality plans.”

Apple technicians will use handheld cameras to map pedestrian areas.

Apple assures that all faces and licence plates will be blurred.
