Three years after the start of work, President Brigitte Boccone-Pagès was present on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the inauguration of the new motorway offramp A8, called “Monaco Est”, along with many other Monegasque and French leaders and officials. From Wednesday, January 10 at 06:00, the opening of this new ramp will offer some 50,000 French commuters easier access to the Principality.
With nearly 3,000 vehicles that use this new section daily, the new offramp will reduce the number of cars crossing la Turbie, streamline traffic on the A500 motorway and help avoid closures of the Monaco tunnel.
Madame Brigitte Boccone-Pagès said: “The culmination of this project is strategic for Monaco.” She added: “We must of course go further… But it is above all public transport which must concentrate our efforts, such as the establishment of a maritime shuttle and an express metro between Nice and Monaco that the National Council has been calling for”.
