Minister of State Pierre Dartout has said that the Principality is prepared to face threats from terrorists.
“Just now, there’s not a terrorist threat effective in Monaco. But we must be ready to face the worst, even if it hasn’t arrived yet,” he said.
“At the moment of the aggression by Hamas in October, we had all the provisions (in place) to protect the synagogue and other emblematic symbols of the new community,” he added in reference to Monaco’s growing Jewish community.
He said that Monaco has a force of 550 officers that allows it to take extra security measures. During New Year celebrations the number of officers on the streets and in back-up roles will be four times more than normal and the forces of law and order are on high alert, Mr Dartout said.
