In view of the Red Alert for heavy rain and the risk of flooding, the Government announced on Friday evening that all schools and nurseries will be closed on Friday, October 20. Outdoor markets and the entertainment fair on Port Hercule will also not operate. The Monte-Carlo Country Club also announced it would not open.
Monaco’s Town Hall said: “In accordance with the decision of the Prince’s Government, all municipal nurseries, the Rainier III Academy, the Ecole Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques – Pavillon Bosio, the outside traders of the markets of Monte-Carlo, La Condamine and Monaco Ville, the Botanical Centre of the Exotic Garden, as well as the Princess Antoinette Park will remain closed on Friday October 20, 2023. In addition, the Louis Notari Library will only be open in the afternoon, from 13:00 to 18:30. Finally, the Fair will not open to the public that day at 14:00 as initially planned. Its opening is postponed, depending on weather developments.”
Earlier in the day the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes said that schools will not open.
The Vacances de la Toussaint were due to begin after classes on October 20.
