Minister of Health and Social Affairs Christophe Robino has reassured the populace that Monaco is well-prepared for the coming winter in terms of ‘flu and coronavirus prevention.

Three thousand doses of the Comirnaty vaccine have been ordered to vaccinate the elderly against coronavirus, and others most at risk, and are due to arrive next week, the Minister said. The Eris variant of the virus is very contagious and a cause of concern. At first, vaccinations will take place at the Princess Grace Hospital, but the ministry is in discussions with a view to making the vaccines available through private doctors.

To cope with seasonal ‘flu, the Government is looking into pharmacists being able to administer vaccine doses.

The situation concerning bronchitis is not so rosey, as vaccines are delivered through France, which is prioritising its own nationals. Nevertheless, a small number of doses have been obtained by CHPG in case of need for newly-born babies, while 300 more doses are on order for residents.
