Despite pleas for leniency, two former drug addicts have been sent to jail in Monaco for stealing electric scooters.
The prosecutor argued for three months in jail for both culprits, who were known to Interpol for shoplifting and who, on this occasion, used cutters to release the scooters from their locks.
“In Monaco, in three minutes you stole the means of transport from employees who need them to work. For this unacceptable behaviour I call for three months in prison for each person,” Emmanuelle Carniello argued.
Expressions of regret on the part of the culprits were not enough to avoid them being kept in custody for a total of three months each.
