Nice’s night-time reputation has taken another drubbing after six knife attacks within four days.
The first was during the evening of June 21, during the annual celebration of the Fête de la musique, when a 29 year-old man was stabbed in the throat with a six-centimetre blade. Miraculously, his life was not in danger at the time of his admission to hospital. An arrest was made.
Within a few hours, at 02:30 on Thursday, June 22, a 17 year-old was seriously injured after a knife attack on the quai des Etats-Unis.
On Saturday afternoon, this time in broad daylight, another young man was stabbed in a fight in the centre of the city, on rue de la République. Two arrests were made of individuals known to the victim.
In the early hours of Sunday, June 25, three more knife attacks took place, with victims aged 32, 25, and 17.
