No stranger to provocation with a vacation, Paris Saint-Germain player Neymar Jr has reportedly frustrated the powers that be at PSG, having missed the Parisians’ Ligue 1 title-winning celebrations to attend the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Brazilian star sustained a season-ending injury in March, and has since then supported his team from the sidelines. However, Neymar was not one of many fellow injured PSG players in attendance as the league giants secured another title with a 1-1 draw to Strasbourg.
Instead, Neymar rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous in the midst of all the glamorous madness that had descended onto the Principality for the weekend, being pictured with the likes of Orlando Bloom, Maria Sharapova and Kylie Minogue to name just a handful.
The 31 year-old was the guest of Red Bull in the pits, but told Sky News that he would cheer for Mercedes’ Hamilton, saying “I love F1, and above all, I love Hamilton, who is a great friend of mine. I will follow Red Bull and cheer for my friend.” This was probably said after he posed for a group picture with most of the team and Spider Man, also known as Tom Holland.
A footballing icon within his own right, Neymar is expensive and eccentric, and his latest escapade has been viewed as a provocative gesture by PSG, reports L’Equipe.
Both player and club are rumoured to be ready to part ways this summer, with many Premier League clubs interested in Neymar’s signature. Foot Mercato report that he has his sights set on a move to Manchester United, but the Brazilian was characteristically nonchalant about the matter when asked by a journalist in Monaco.
