Late on Thursday French train operator SNCF issued a strike warning for the PACA region, saying that disruption can be expected on Friday, during one of the busiest days of the year.

However, in part due to the late notice from the unions involved, the company was unable to offer any details, suggesting that passengers check train availability on its website.

The local network was already expected to be under pressure from passenger numbers due to the Monaco Grand Prix and the three-day weekend, Monday, May 29, being Whit Monday and a public holiday in France and Monaco.
