Edmiston has announced the retirement of Mike Horsley following an 18 year career with the yachting brand.
One of the most recognised classic sailing yacht brokers in the industry, Mike led the Classic Yachts team in Antibes for almost two decades. With an enviable depth of knowledge on the market, Mike has been a driving force in the sailing yacht world for the last 20 years, Edmiston said.
“Mike’s passion for boats began at the age of six, following in his father’s footsteps in his love of the ocean, enjoying home education out at sea until the age of 13. In 1990, after finishing secondary school, Mike joined his father’s company, Malcolm J. Horsley International, before taking over the business following his father’s untimely death in 1991. The business continued from strength to strength and was purchased by Edmiston in 2005; Mike went on to set up the specialist Classic Yachts team within Edmiston. The brokerage remains the only major house to have its own classic department, and is of huge pride to the company.
“His time with Edmiston has seen him, and his team, proud to be connected with legendary yachts. Mike, his experience and breadth of knowledge will all be greatly missed by his colleagues, sailing yacht network and the wider industry. He will continue to be a sounding board in the classic yacht sector for Edmiston and the industry,” Edmiston said.
