The state budget surplus for 2022 was 32 million euros. “We can be proud of this amount,” Jean Castellini said last week.

The Minister of Finance and Economy added that 2023 promises to be positive, thanks in particular to tourist activity in the leisure and business segments.

He said that in terms of occupancy rates and average prices in the hotel sector should ensure a better commercial performance than last year, with April and May occupancy forecasts close to 65 percent.

The overall volume of trade in the Principality, excluding France, posted a strong increase of 18 percent last year compared to 2021, to reach more than €3.5 billion. However, this figure remains lower than before the crisis (€3.7 billion in 2019).
