The test of free buses in the Principality, initiated by the Government on October 3, will be extended until January 2, 2023 inclusive.
Although originally intended to last eight weeks, the experiment has been extended in order for more data to be collected and analysed.
While bus usage has increased, according to the Government, more information is needed on the impact on pollution and traffic congestion.
A few weeks ago CAM, the Monaco bus company, indicated that some pedestrians were using the service “opportunistically” to travel very short distances.
The Government wants to encourage the use of public transport in order to make traffic more fluid, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the quality of life of Monegasques, residents, commuters and visitors to the Principality.
