The Louise Bourgeois monumental spider structure that sat for some time in the Boulingrins gardens above Casino Square has been sold for more than four million euros per leg, according to multiple web reports.
It is believed to be the highest price achieved by the Franco-American artist, who died in 2010.
The Hauser & Wirth gallery below One Monte-Carlo selected the three-metre tall sculpture to mark its opening last year.
The creature’s menacing charm has been replaced this year by an inflatable sauce bottle that presumably can be deflated and moved elsewhere as soon as possible.
