President Macron took time out from talking to the presidents of Ukraine and Russia on Thursday morning to announce, through a spokesman, the end of most coronavirus restrictions from Monday, March 14.

The move follows a very clear decline in all pandemic indicators.

Masks will still be required on public transport, and possibly in some indoor settings. However, the much-hated Vaccination Pass, requiring three jabs, will be cancelled. The final rules on masks are still being discussed.

The first round of the Presidential election will be on April 10, and a few weeks ago the end of March or the first week of April were being touted as the likely time for regulations to be relaxed.

Monaco can be expected to announce similar relaxations of rules within the next few days.
