The prestigious La Belle Classe Academy at the Yacht Club de Monaco is preparing to host the world’s first Superyacht Industry Academy. Kicking off on 19th February and running for 10 weeks, the Yachting Masterclass provides a holistic, 360-degree view of yachting, with the aim of professionalising the industry by providing top-quality, accessible educational tools and resources, the organisers say.

With a total of 19 courses available, the 10-week immersive programme brings together top experts from across the industry including representatives from Oceanco, Feadship and many more. It covers diverse topics ranging from superyacht design with industry legend Espen Øino, yacht aviation, yacht and luxury marketing, yacht insurance, yacht classification, yacht management, yacht sales, sustainability, yacht agents, yacht charter, family offices and more.

Conducted in English with lessons taking place twice a week (Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings), the Yachting Masterclass is designed for anyone who wants to gain a full understanding of the industry. This includes new yacht owners, banks, family offices, brokers, suppliers, crew looking to move to shore-based positions and anyone in the industry with ambitions to take on a new or more senior management role. As well as offering participants invaluable skills and insights to give them a competitive advantage in the employment marketplace and bolster their professional development, those completing the course will also receive a diploma awarded by La Belle Classe Academy at the Yacht Club de Monaco. As an added bonus, participants can also take part over Zoom for a discounted rate, or enrol in individual modules if preferred.

The Masterclass is the brainchild of Marcela de Kern Royer. Currently a professor at the International University of Monaco, Marcela is the founder and owner of Onboard, a Monaco-based consulting firm that specialises in sales to HNWI and luxury marketing, as well as being author of The Superyacht Industry Book, the first-ever textbook written about the industry.

Marcela comments: “Those who have already signed up for our Yachting Masterclass include captains, industry professionals, yacht builders and aviation specialists from all around the world. You will leave the course with the equivalent of a masters in yachting, so what better way could there be to invest in yourself, your knowledge and your professional development?”
