The Artcurial auction house exceeded all expectations at its Winter Sales in Monte-Carlo.

Artcurial described it as a magnificent week at the Hôtel Hermitage, dedicated to Jewellery, Watchmaking, Hermès & Luxury Bags, a real success that confirms Artcurial as a major player on the Riviera.

“Sales of the three specialties combined total nearly €8 million/ $9 million including fees. A magnificent exhibition preceded the sales, the different auctions were very popular with buyers.”

Most of the lots exceeded pre-sale estimates, often by substantial amounts.

A Hermes Birkin bag sold on Wednesday for 44,900 euros, having been estimated at 6,400 euros. All the bags greatly exceeded estimates.

Collectors’ watches also outperformed expectations. A Patek Philippe Nautilius fetched 208,000 euros, well above its estimate of between 70,000 and 90,000, while a Rolex Submariner reached 162,500, having been estimated at 60,000 to 80,000.
