French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Wednesday, January 12, that France will lift the blanket ban on non-essential travel from the UK by the end of the week.
.
“I confirm that a further easing of the restrictions with the UK will be announced in the coming days,” Gabriel Attal told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting.
“Work is continuing. I hope that the announcement can be made by the end of the week.”
The news came as a great relief to UK holidaymakers, travel companies and ski operators in France, where UK visitors make up a substantial proportion of the total.
France tightened entry requirements for UK passport holders in the early days of the Omicron wave in December.
