A bust representing the Empress Eugenie was unveiled by HSH Prince Albert II in the presence of Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon, current head of the house of Bonaparte and his wife, Olympia.
The unveiling, in the gardens above Fort Antoine, marks a double anniversary: the centenary of the death of the wife of Napoleon III (1920) and Prince Albert I of Monaco (1922), to whom she was close.
The location was chosen so that the Empress Eugenie’s gaze is in the direction of Cap Martin, where the Villa Cyrno is located, and which she called home on the French Riviera.
