The Government announced late on Tuesday afternoon that a Health Pass will be needed for all Monegasques, residents and employees to access bars, cafes and restaurants from August 23. Tourists and visitors to Monaco already have to furnish the document, as of July 24.

“The health pass makes it possible to indicate with certainty that its holder has been fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of six months or if he is in possession of a negative PCR test of less than 48 hours,” the Government said.

“Vaccination is the most effective way to protect oneself and to protect others,” the press statement added. The delay of more than three weeks will allow more time for those waiting for a second jab.

“It is therefore highly recommended to be vaccinated. Particularly for the youngest who represent the most infected people for several weeks and whose vaccination coverage is insufficient. Vaccination remains free and accessible for Monegasques and residents over 12 as well as for employees over 50. The Government continues to monitor developments in the health situation with the greatest attention. It will adapt the health provisions according to it as it has done since the start of the pandemic.”
