Following on the news that Monaco students did exceptionally well in this year’s Bac exams, the International School of Monaco is celebrating a year of great achievement in the face of very difficult circumstances.

Julian Thomas, the school’s Director, said on Thursday: “I am absolutely delighted to bring news of the International Baccalaureate results of the Class of 2021.

“There were many happy, smiling, and crying faces at ISM yesterday as our leavers picked up results that saw every one of them gain a place at their first choice university. The overall average was a remarkable 39.7, far exceeding even last year’s record, and a figure which will certainly place the school among the very best in the world. Exactly where we are aiming to be.

“This has been an incredibly difficult year as students and staff have faced exceptional disruption. These results are a testament to their commitment and resilience, as well as to their ability.

“Congratulations to all the students involved, and to the staff who have played a part in their journey, whether this year or at any stage along the way.

“More than half of the Class of 2021 achieved 40+ points in their International Baccalaureate, which is remarkable.

“They have all gained places at their first choice universities which include some of the finest and most recognisable universities from the US, UK and around the world.

“I am so proud of these achievements. It is another milestone in ISM’s journey to excellence, and a wonderful way to begin the summer holiday.

“This is the next step along the way in an extraordinary journey which sees us now placed among the world’s top International Baccalaureate schools.

“Our thoughts now turn to the IGCSEs later in the summer, and we shall keep our fingers crossed for similarly outstanding results.”
