Stephane Valeri, President of the National Council, is hopeful that a solution will be found for Monaco taxi drivers who are unhappy about recent Government decisions.

Fifty-one demonstrated their dissatisfaction by driving, slowly, in convoy around the Grand Prix circuit on Wednesday

“It is obvious, even more in this difficult period concerning their activity, that very particular attention must be paid to them… The national priority must apply in this sector as in the others,” Stephane Valeri said, referring to preferential treatment for Monegasques.

The drivers are unhappy that 11 licences have been awarded to French taxis, especially at a time when the trade is suffering from a significant drop in business.

A delegation of Monaco taxi drivers is due to meet Minister of State Pierre Dartout on Friday to discuss their grievances.
