The annual Energy Transition Conference was held on Monday, May 10 in the presence of HSH Prince Albert and Government Minister Marie-Pierre Gramaglia.

This year’s conference was titled ‘Living without waste?’ as it aimed to highlight the topical issue of responsible waste management. This topic is of particular importance to Monaco as waste is responsible for one third of the Principality’s CO2 emissions.

The lively and fast-paced Conference began with an assessment of energy transition in the Principality. The Energy Transition Mission (MTE) then virtually welcomed Blandine Surry, Managing Director of ‘Loop’.

A pioneer in the reuse of packaging, start-up company Loop is moving from e-commerce to physical stores, in partnership with Carrefour France, to bring the circular economy into mass distribution using a sophisticated packaging disposal system.

Prince Albert then awarded an olive tree shaped trophy to three projects that received the most votes in a competition that had been organised by the MTE. The competition sought the best Monegasque waste reduction initiative, and the winners were Doctor Laure Bonnet of the CHPG, Sylvie Biancheri of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco and Roland Mouflard of the Salon Odyssée.
