After being one of the first major sports tournaments to announce a cancellation almost one year ago, the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 tournament, due to take place from April 10 to 18, will no longer be open to the public.

As the Monte-Carlo Country Club sits on French territory, the venue must follow French rules.

The organisers said on Friday, February 12 that the decisions was taken “in accordance with the latest government provisions to extend the state of (the coronavirus) health emergency until May 3, 2021.”

The Monte-Carlo Masters event is the season starter for clay tennis tournaments.
