Vessels flying the Monaco flag have been authorised to navigate and stop over in French territorial waters, the Monaco Government announced on Thursday, May 21. Likewise, ships flying the French flag can use the Principality’s territorial waters.
However, the 100km limit applied to land journeys in France also applies at sea. One complication is that local town halls have jurisdiction over ports along the coast, and captains or owners are advised to check first.
The usual procedure of alerting the French authorities before entering French waters continues to apply.
