Four people were taken to Princess Grace Hospital on Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out on the fourth floor of a building on rue Plati. Treated for smoke inhalation, they included the occupants of the apartment in which the fire started, a woman and her grandson, and two neighbours.
Other occupants of the building were rehoused temporarily due to water damage to their homes. Forty firefighters attended the scene, using two hoses and an extendable ladder to reach the roof, which was also damaged. The fire service will remain at the scene overnight in case the fire restarts.
