The Government has selected Amazon Web Services as a provider of cloud services in the Principality as part of its Extended Monaco programme.

The hybrid cloud architecture will enable and accelerate public initiatives including e-administration, mobility, education and healthcare. It will also offer advantages to the Principality’s businesses through advanced digital solutions, the Government said.

The cloud, which will be accessible to all, will ensure sovereignty as well as the security of the data hosted on Monaco’s territory. The Government will appoint a local operator to manage the system.

For the fourth quarter of 2018, Amazon reported $7.43 billion in revenue from its cloud-computing business, up 45.3 percent from the same period a year earlier. For the full 2018 year, AWS brought in $25.7 billion, more than the revenue reported by McDonalds.
