In the aftermath of the weekend storms that lashed the Riviera, road traffic conditions were close to catastrophic on Monday evening, with large jams and tailbacks throughout the region.

The area around Nice Airport was particularly difficult, and transit between the two terminals was extremely slow. Travellers intending to fly from Nice have been advised to allow an extra two hours to ensure they are able to reach the terminal buildings.

A number of roads remain closed, although many major routes reopened on Sunday afternoon and Monday.
