The firefighters of Monaco undergo training in the fight against forest fires every Wednesday morning. The training sessions concentrate on personal and collective safety, techniques that are specially adapted to fighting forest fires, and to operational readiness in all situations.

The forest fire training is aimed at making sure that Monaco’s firefighters are ready at any time to come to the aid of French firefighters who may be faced with forest fires.

Lieutenant-Colonel Norbert Fassiaux said: “If these interventions do not represent the day-to-day life of the Corps, they must nevertheless be prepared and trained in this kind of situation to intervene in the French sector.” The Franco-Monegasque agreement on mutual assistance between the Monegasque and French relief and civil protection services dates from April 1970.”
