What could well have been a second Ligue 1 loss on the trot for AS Monaco was avoided by the skipper, as Wissam Ben Yedder scored both of the Principality side’s goals in a 2-2 draw away at the Stade de L’Aube against Troyes on Sunday, March 5.

Rominigue Kouamé opened the scoring for Troyes at the 30th minute with a shot from beyond the box, the only goal to be scored until the final whistle drew nearer. Despite, many efforts by the Monegasques, it would have to be on the team captain to save the day again. Breel Embolo brought the ball to Ben Yedder, who found the back of the net to equalise at the 80th minute.

Just two minutes later, Ben Yedder struck gold again with a second goal to completely reignite the match, while bringing Monaco ahead by 1-2 in a flash. However, the celebrations were short lived, as a determined Troyes team managed to get one back in injury time to the dismay of the travelling supporters.

After a much more lively last few minutes, the match concluded with a 2-2 draw, leaving Monaco without three important points as the fight at the top of the Ligue 1 table endures. The one point which the Monegasques do depart with keeps them in third place in Ligue 1, as Ben Yedder enjoys another successful season in red and white.
