A 20 year-old Monaco student flipped a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT on Avenue Princess Grace in an unexpected ending to New Years Eve, in the early hours of January 1, 2023.

The Porsche SUV smashed into three cars before ending up on its roof, creating quite the scene. Somehow, the driver of the car and his passengers got out of the inverted vehicle unscathed. See the crash below:

Having survived a spectacular crash, the student appeared in court for drunk driving having recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.81 mg/l at the time of the incident. Speaking in his defence, the student who has not been named, said that he had “Just a little champagne and I was driving between 60 and 70 km/h. My foot had slipped under the pedal when accelerating and jammed the mechanism,” reports Nice Matin.

With no serious human casualties to account for, the attention turned to a frustrated plaintiff, whose three month old Tesla took the brunt of the collision with the flipping two-tonne SUV. With the damages taken into account, the understandably bemused party demanded 25,000 euros. However, the judge did not wish to include this claim in his ruling and referred the case to another hearing.

In the end, the student was handed a two month suspended prison sentence, a one year driving ban, and a 75 euro fine. The defendant enjoyed a cheaper fine than many received in recent years for wearing their masks around their chin.
