AS Monaco have managed to maintain their momentum, registering another Ligue 1 win, this time against Clermont Foot away on the afternoon of Sunday, February 5.

The Monegasques struck twice in the first quarter of the match, scoring both goals of the contest within the first 15 minutes.

Home supporters in the stands of the Gabriel Montpied Stadium would face disappointment in the opening minutes, courtesy of a headed goal by defender Guillermo Maripan to make it 0-1 at the 3rd minute.

10 minutes later, Breel Embolo added to an already impressive tally of goals this season with another one of his own to double the visitors’ lead at 13th minute. The Swiss striker was found by Alexandr Golovin, who just cannot seem to stop providing assists.

Now two nil up, the Principality side settled into the match and protected their lead, perhaps learning from recent matches to not become complacent while ahead. A handful of opportunities to get further ahead presented themselves, but in the end the match concluded with the same 0-2 scoreline.

With another win under their belts, Monaco now have 44 points in 22 matches in Ligue 1 this season, their highest tally at this stage in the top flight since the 2017/18 season.

Monaco will now prepare for their fixture against League leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Louis II on Saturday, February 11.
