Union displeasure over the planned raising of the French retirement age from 62 to 64 is likely to see nine out of 10 local trains cancelled on Thursday, January 19, as rail workers have endorsed the nationwide strikes by several unions with unusual enthusiasm.

The services from Nice and Menton to Monaco will be no exception, according to a press release on Wednesday from French rail operator SNCF. Disruption is likely to extend into the following day, impacting the morning commute.

Many flights will also be cancelled. The official Nice Airport website announced several cancellations, particularly on Air France services to Paris Orly.
