Despite warnings of a likely worsening of the coronavirus situation and frequent exhortations to wear masks in public places, the Principality’s actual infection rate fell in the seven days to Sunday, December 11.

Figures announced by the Monaco Government on Tuesday morning show an incidence rate of 452 against 536 cases per 100,000 population one week earlier.

However, hospitalisations rose in number, with 36 residents being treated for coronavirus symptoms at Princess Grace Hospital. Of the ten non-residents at CHPG, three were in intensive care on Sunday. Last week’s total figure was 38, residents and non-residents combined.

Meanwhile, 73 residents with mild symptoms are recovering at home.
