Princess Grace Hospital has made donating blood much easier by operating a Bloodmobile service in conjunction with local companies.

Employees are picked up from their place of work, taken to CHPG to give blood, then whisked back to work in an operation that saves considerable time.

The Principality needs all the blood it can get. A total of 5,500 donations are needed each year, but about 2,000 are made in Monaco requiring the hospital to rely on imported blood from France.

Doctor Hervé Renard, head of the blood transfusion centre, said that the summer is always a difficult time, as there are more accidents and fewer donors. He hopes that the donation centre will be able to collect more blood this year than in previous years, partly thanks to the Bloodmobile.

To use the Bloodmobile service, call +377.97.98.98.20. to arrange an appointment. Blood collection at the CHPG on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 08:00 to until 14:00, on Wednesdays from 10:00. Until 15:00. The Bloodmobile operates within these hours until the end of August.
