Monaco Art Week
12 – 17 July
Monaco’s annual art fest with the participation of leading Monaco galleries, including Artcurial, Sotheby’s, Wannenes and Maison d’Art.
The MONACO ART WEEK Association is a result of the desire to federate Monaco’s cultural institutions in an effort to organise joint actions that highlight and promote the Principality’s art scene.
The association was created in 2018, offering a variety of get-togethers and events, with the organisation of exhibition trails, round tables and professional encounters. A breeding ground for synergies and exchanges, the association will hold its various initiatives throughout the year.
The association will celebrate its 4th edition from 12 to 17 July 2022, based on a MONACO ART WEEK trail, spread between different neighbourhoods in the Principality. This format aims to facilitate access to the programme, based on a map that groups the participants together in three main centres (Condamine, Monte-Carlo, Larvotto), encouraging each one to explore the Monegasque cultural landscape.

PORTICO QUARTET
CONCERT
Portico Quartet is a London band made up of Duncan Bellamy, Milo Fitzpatrick, Jack Wyllie and Keir Vine.
They are bringing their electronic-inspired music featuring the band in its most direct form, with punchy, rhythmic sound to Fort Antoine Theatre at 21:30 on Tuesday 12 of July.

Monte – Carlo Summer Festival
PINK MARTINI
Formed in 1994, their first album, Sympathique, was released in 1997 and went double gold in France, where their eponymous single (…je ne veux pas travailler…) was used in an advertising campaign. Following this success, the band continued to play concerts all over the world. The second album, Hang on Little Tomato, was released in October 2004.
Comprising original songs and covers in several languages, the band’s repertoire is difficult to pin down to a specific musical genre because it breaks down the barriers between music. The press describes it as a “musical melting pot” and a “jukebox of multicultural influences and passions”. Pianist and composer Thomas Lauderdale describes the band’s musicians as “archaeologists, always looking for nuggets hidden in the recordings and music of the past”.
Pink Martini’s lead singer is China Forbes. Although she was born in the United States, one of her two grandmothers was French, and China learned the language as a child, giving her a natural ease in expressing herself and singing in French. Good news for the fans: she will share the stage with Storm Large who joined the group in 2011, the two singers will be present on the summer tour which is very rare!

The Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo will open its doors on July 13 at 20:00 to Pink Martini featuring China Forbes and Storm Large to start the summer season! Seated concert – Proper attire (jacket) required.

The 6th edition of artmonte-carlo will take place from July 14 to 16, 2022 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. artmonte-carlo is an art fair whose intention is to establish on the Côte d’Azur a leading artistic platform for contemporary art, modern art and contemporary design, in order to honour the requirements of the many collectors and art lovers in the region.

LES BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO – 3 CHOREOGRAPHERS EVENING
The climax of this edition of “L’Été Danse!” this “3 Choreographers” evenings offer the most relevant panel that current dance has to offer. It also reflects the spirit which has driven Jean-Christophe Maillot since his appointment 30 years ago as Choreographer-Director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo: inviting other choreographers to take advantage of the tremendous tool that this company of 50 dancers represents. In this way several have become faithful friends, such as Jirí Kylián and Mats Ek. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo are to date among the best performers of their repertoire. The three choreographers whose work is performed during this evening share a commitment to the classical vocabulary each of them has mastered in their own way, to bring it into line with a contemporary problem.

Monte – Carlo Summer Festival
Imany “Voodoo Cello”
Born in Martigues and growing up with the sounds of hip-hop has since come a long way. Imany has chosen to put her name to many causes. For example, she is an ambassador for the EndoMIND association in the fight against endometriosis. Equal rights are not the only civic battle she is waging, but equal opportunities and the duty of solidarity towards the excluded is another for this woman who never forgets where she comes from. There are many issues at stake, and the challenge of ecology is not the least for this artist who is well aware that the Earth is turning less and less round.
Today, the artist presents “Voodoo Cello”: the marriage of Imany’s low tones and eight cellos which together transform essential hits from the pop history (from Radiohead to Cat Stevens, including Hozier, t.A.t.u., Bob Marley…). Without any artifice, she uses the combined magic of the strings and her voice to bewitch the audience. For ten years now, Imany’s deep voice has been seducing the French public with compositions inspired by soul, folk and blues. From the triumph of her two singles “Don’t be so shy” and “You Will Never Know”, to her two albums and the soundtrack to the film Sous les jupes des filles, Imany has enjoyed a string of successes around the world.
Present at the Bal de la Rose in 2017, Imany is back in Monaco. This time at the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo for a concert on July 15.

Family Day Celebration
In memory of Kate Powers
A special event hosted by Stars’n’Bars on July 16 to introduce the Kate Powers Foundation which has been created to carry on Kate’s purpose: to ensure the well-being of the community and the environment.
Activities and fun start at 16:00.
Volunteers from the Kate Powers Foundation will be raising funds by organising games for children and adults, including bouncy castles, face painting, silent disco, dunk tank, 3 legged race, wellness corner, music, meditation, sound bath and a special tombola.
30 EUR entrance fee for all activities.

L’ORGUE DU TITAN
Based on a tale by George Sand, read – in French – by Guillaume Gallienne, with organ improvisations of Naji Hakim.
This tale begins when Maître Angelin, a well-known old organist, reveals to his audience that he often encounters the same problem of pain in his hands while playing a certain musical motiv. His audience wondering what he is talking about, the musician then tells them that he has lived through a strange story in the past. This would sometimes have the effect of disturbing him when he plays and he explains the origin of it by recounting his childhood spent in the service of Mr. Jansiré, known as Master Jean, music teacher and organist at Clermont Cathedral. Traveling alongside him in the mountains, he experienced a true initiatory adventure that became a symbol of his future vocation. The Titan’s Organ comes from Tales of a Grandmother, the last book published by Sand during her lifetime.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN – L’EXHIBITION[NISTE] – CHAPTER II
A major summer event from the Grimaldi Forum Monaco is dedicated to the work and imagination of Christian Louboutin, a footwear designer and key figure in the fashion industry who has drawn much of his inspiration from the Principality.
The set design encompasses 2,000 m² and unveils previously unseen works tied to the designer’s Monegasque inspirations as well as new collaborations, including a unique project being developed with British artist Allen Jones.
Far from a classic retrospective, the exhibition path was designed as a joyful odyssey through three decades of abundant creativity infused with curiosity for all cultures and arts.
While the shoes will take pride of place, with a selection of unique pieces, the designer especially wanted to pay tribute to those who inspire him and make him dream.
The exhibition opens on Saturday at 10:00, July 9 and will close in August 28, 2022.

Newton, Riviera
The title of the exhibition clearly circumscribes a geography, that of the Côte-d’Azur to Bordighera, in Italy, which Helmut Newton photographed from the 1960s until his death in the early 2000s. “A Riviera” is thus a pretext to explore the work of a major photographer of the 20th century in a different way, through now famous images, like others rarely presented to the public.
