To celebrate the pride every person should feel expressing their true self on a daily basis, Barclays Private Bank, Fight Aids Monaco and Stars’N’Bars held a cocktail in honour of PRIDE month on Thursday, June 2, on the Stardeck of Stars’N’Bars.
The organisers had the pleasure of welcoming around 80 people. This unprecedented event in the Principality gathered LGBTQIA+ people living and working in Monaco, as well as anyone wishing to show their solidarity. Many participants sported rainbow colours stickers, symbols of the community.*
Barclays Private Bank is a bank committed to the LGBTQIA+ community, supporting its clients and colleagues through the large spectrum of sexual orientation and gender diversity. Barclays understands that sexual orientation and gender identity are but a part of people’s identity and wants them to feel accepted in every way.
Through initiatives, activities and networking for its employees, Barclays stands out and has already received nominations from organisations such as Stonewall and the Human Right Campaign.
Fight Aids Monaco is an association supporting people living with HIV since 2004, acknowledging each person’s sexual orientation and gender identity. Following the example of its President, HSH Princess Stéphanie, the association condemns any kind of inequality, discrimination or violence against any person, including those identifying as LGBTQIA+.
Fight Aids Monaco supports equality and think that defending this principle should be everybody’s concern.
Founded in 1993, the Stars’N’Bars restaurant is an institution on the port of Monaco. Since nearly three decades, they have been committed to ensuring that anyone passing through their doors are treated with equal respect, tolerance and inclusion.
The SNB motto is “Do what you love, love what you do. Make a difference” but there can be no difference in how they view their fellow residents of this planet.
Let’s be proud to coexist in diversity and state loudly that the freedom to be and love applies to all, the organisers said.
*The rainbow flag was created in 1978 by artist, designer and Vietnam war veteran turned drag performer, Gilbert Baker. He was put in charge of the flag’s creation by another gay icon, politician Harvey Milk, for the annual Pride march of San Francisco.
