As the new year is upon us, so is the Monte-Carlo Rally. This time though, the rally will begin in the Principality, as opposed to starting in the usual host city of Gap.
The event’s organiser, the Automobile Club de Monaco, says that the change in starting points was the wish of the ACM’s Organising Committee, in order to allow multiple celebrations to take place in Monaco as it is such a special occasion.
The rest of the route has also undergone a big change, a 95 percent rejig from the previous year’s route to be exact.
Three days will be allowed for reconnaissance, from Monday, January 17 to Wednesday, January 19. The 90th Monte-Carly Rally will start on Thursday, January 20, at 18:45 on the Casino Square, before carrying on for the first nightly leg thereafter.
The crews will head for the northern part of Alpes-Maritimes on Friday, January 21 for a second day of racing against the clock totalling 97.86 kilometres of stages.
The penultimate day of racing will be set in the picturesque setting of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, while the rally will conclude with a finish line in Monaco on Sunday, January 23, before the prize-giving ceremony that will take place on the Casino Square.
