The English health authorities decided on August 12 to change the rules on vaccine eligibility for arrivals from amber list countries. Travellers who have been inoculated with two different vaccines will have to quarantine on arrival. Only those who have been vaccinated with the same vaccine will be considered ‘fully-vaccinated.’

According to the local.it, tens of thousands of European residents have been jabbed with two different brands. They include Chancellor Angela Merkel and French Health Minister Olivier Véran.

The change in rules so far affects only England. The quarantine involves self-isolation and the taking of two tests after arrival, on day 2 and day 8. Although these tests have to be paid for in advace and noted in the UK’s Travellor Locator Form, there appears to be no enforcement.

The change appears to go against medical evidence that those inoculated with two different vaccines are at least as well-protected against coronavirus as those who have been jabbed using only one brand.

It should be noted that rule changes can be made suddenly and without notice. Readers are advised that NEWS.MC attempts to keep abreast of developments, but cannot guarantee the accurancy of information provided.
