Artcurial enjoyed a very gratifying Monaco Auction Week. “Our enormous success confirms our leadership in Monaco,” the auction house said on Friday, July 23.

Louise Grether, Artcurial’s director in Monaco told NEWS.MC that it was truly “a fantastic result.”

“The key to our success lies in the rigorous selection of lots by our department specialists and our excellent reputation in the Principality. These exceptional results across the board once again confirm our leadership in Monaco and we now look forward to our winter auctions in January 2022,” she said.

The Auction Week, at the Hotel Hermitage, was dedicated to Jewellery, Watchmaking, Hermès & Luxury Bags, Motorcars and Monaco Sculptures, with many records broken in the presence of international collectors.

“The presence of Artcurial Motorcars and Monaco Sculptures offered a perfect synergy between the know-how of Artcurial and the legendary passion of Monaco for the automobile and the monumental works of the greatest artists of the 20th century and 21st centuries,” Artcurial said. The summer season was up 27 percent for the luxury departments (Jewellery, Watchmaking, Hermès & Luxury Bags and Motorcars) compared to the summer 2020 session.

In Watchmaking, magnificent auctions such as a magnificent Rolex Submariner “Comex 793” sold for € 318,500 and a Daytona “Paul Newman” at €247,000.

Jewellery, for its part, was marked by an important Chanel ring in gold, diamonds with an exceptional Burmese sapphire of 58.53 cts sold at €498,600 and a Cartier ring in platinum, pear-cut diamond of more than 20 carats sold for €356,000.

“Hermès & Luxury Bags had great success with the iconic Hermès So Black bag sold for €114,500 and for Monaco Sculptures, a particularly pronounced success for Niki de Saint-Phalle and her Nana Fontaine who recorded the most fine price of the session auctioned at €418,000.”

On the Artcurial Motorcars side, the legendary Lamborghini Miura joins a Monegasque collection for €977,400.

Artcurial said that the week demonstrated a real recovery in the market, as foreign collectors have been particularly active this season. The Week also underlined the importance of Monaco as a capital of luxury.

The total result was 21,480,570 euros, 25,347,073 euros including costs.
