The body of a woman was found in the sea off Monaco on Wednesday afternoon, the judicial authorities in Nice said on Saturday.
The corpse has not yet been identified, and, although an autopsy has been held, it has not been possible to tell if the person was a victim of Storm Alex or one of several bodies washed downriver and into the Mediterranean from one of the cemeteries that was destroyed in the flash floods from the torrential downpour.
Efforts continue to identify the body.
So far five people are known to have died in the Vesubie and de la Roya valleys, and more than a dozen are unaccounted for.
