The Monaco Government said on Wednesday evening that tests on suspected coronavirus patients in the Principality on Monday had come back negative.
Earlier in the week an online petition calling for the closure of Monaco’s schools attracted 1,000 signatures before being taken down from ‘Mes Opinions.’ The Government is keeping schools open but asking parents who have returned from high-risk areas to keep their children at home for two weeks.
Some events have been cancelled, while others are going ahead. The International Automotive Salon (SIAM) on Port Hercule will open to the public as planned on Friday, March 6. Many of the displays and attractions are in the open air. Thursday is press day.
A number of smaller, low-profile events have been called off, such as a lawyers’ meeting for a London law firm. Simmons & Simmons has called off its annual partner conference in Monaco amid concerns over the spread of coronavirus. The partner meeting was due to start on Thursday, March 5, www.law.com reported.
However, two major events have fallen victim to the scare. The annual Anti-Ageing Conference due to take place at the Grimaldi Forum in the first week of April has been postponed until November, while the James Bond-themed Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation (USA) fundraiser has also been deferred until the autumn following the decision by the distributor’s of No Time to Die to pause the film’s premiere until November.
