The Monaco Economic Board hosted a very interesting business roundtable on Wednesday in the Prince Charles III salon of the Hotel de Paris.

Her Excellency Evelyne Genta offered her expertise to several economic players in the Principality who wish to reach the UK retail market. Each MEB member present made a short presentation and Mme Genta offered her comments and advice.

In general comments, Mme Genta said that products seen in Britain are seen everywhere in the world. However, Brexit has made bilateral trade very complicated. What is essential for everyone wanting to do business in the Uk is to have a motivated local representative.

The retail sector in the UK is facing challenging times and has seen the closure of outlets such as Debenhams, but the very high-end luxury sector has escaped the worst conditions. Another barrier for businesses wanting to trade with the UK is the bureaucracy connected with Brexit, as several of those present testified.

Mt Guillaume Rose, the Monaco Economic Board’s Executive Director, thanked Mme Genta and all the members who came and added that the Board will be visiting the UK on an Economic Mission in the first quarter of 2024.
