Competition favourites, the Roca Team were eliminated from the LNB Pro A Leaders Cup in the quarter finals of the tournament by Bourg-en-Bresse in the Salle Gaston Medecin on the evening of Friday, February 17.
The visiting Bourg-en-Bresse side managed to outscore their hosts in almost all four quarters, despite an impressive 26 point game by Monaco’s Mike James. Watch the highlights below:
Monaco were trailing closely behind their visitors through the first two quarters of the game, but were unable to surpass their opponents as the scoreline stood at 43-50 at the break.
The third quarter presented a glimmer of hope, as Monaco managed to just about outscore Bourg by 23-22. However, the visitors outscored the Roca Team by 26-30 in the fourth and final quarter resulting in a 92 to 102 victory to Bourg, and Monaco’s elimination from the LNB Pro A Leaders Cup.
Nevertheless, Monaco sit at the top of the LNB table, but will have to wait another year before attempting to win the Leaders Cup. After this rare defeat, Saša Obradovic and his men will be looking ahead to their EuroLeague game against third place Barcelona away on Friday, February 24.
