Speaking on Thursday, Minister of State Pierre Dartout referred to the mutually beneficial health arrangements with France under which the Princess Grace Hospital treats patients from the local catchment area – that stretches from Beaulieu-sur-mer to Menton – and France supplies Monaco with most of its vaccine doses.
At the same press conference, Health Minister Didier Gamerdinger said that jabs are now available to the 45 to 54 age group.
“We are opening vaccination to residents aged 45 to 54. The letter from the Minister of State will leave tomorrow to invite people to express their wish to be vaccinated,” he said.
“I want to clarify that at the moment we have only injected and will only vaccinate with Pfizer. We are also waiting for Moderna.’
The Principality’s vaccination campaign has slowed in recent weeks due to a shortage of doses. Nevertheless, the inoculation of older residents has had a major impact on infection rates and hospitalisations.
